Description
We’re looking for friendly singles or couples to serve as Park Hosts at the Barclay Bay Host site. Spend your days with the US Army Corps of Engineers at Lucky Peak Dam and Lake during the beautiful peak season of summertime at Boise’s local recreational getaway gem.
As a Park Host at Barclay Bay, your primary role will be assisting visitors. This park is particularly busy during the summer and often reaches capacity by mid-morning on weekends. Ranger staff and law enforcement maintain a continuous presence around the project to ensure public safety and provide visitor education. Hosts play an important part in helping visitors, answering questions, and ensuring a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
Duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
• Visitor assistance
• Supply visitors with annual passes
• Distribute interpretive materials
• Assist rangers for occasional Dam tours
• Radio communication
• Report rule violations to rangers
• Light tidying/stocking of restrooms
• Light grounds keeping
• ATV/UTV operation
• Attend water safety and basic first aid training
Time Commitment
Volunteers needed for the following 4-month commitment: May-August 2026. Shorter or longer commitments will be considered based on your availability and project needs. This position requires working a minimum of 32 hours per week which include working weekends and holidays. Exceptions are considered, we only ask communicating any needs or other personal obligations ahead of time.
Amenities
The host site includes a covered, paved RV pad with water, sewer, and electric hookups, as well as trash service. Volunteers are responsible for their own satellite TV and internet services, though the site does have fair cellular service. A Kawasaki Mule will be provided for rounds, and all necessary uniform components, safety equipment, and training will be supplied. Travel reimbursements and meal expenses may also be available.
Last but not least, you’ll enjoy a beautiful, welcoming spot to call home at Lucky Peak—surrounded by nature, with the vibrant city of Boise just a short drive away, offering the perfect blend of outdoor adventure and urban convenience. Lucky Peak is nestled in over 4,000 acres of public land, just 20 minutes outside of Boise, ID. The Barclay Host site is closest to the Boise River, offering easy access to a variety of outdoor activities during the summer. Just 10 miles away, downtown Boise provides year-round arts, dining, and entertainment, with the 210-mile Ridge to Rivers trail system and 25-mile Boise River Greenbelt serving as outdoor recreation highlights for locals and visitors alike. To the east, the 2.6 million-acre Boise National Forest offers endless opportunities for trout fishing, hunting, backpacking, and more. If you’re seeking more adventure, head north to Idaho City to explore historic sites, breathtaking scenery, hot springs, and additional outdoor fun!
