Site Description:
Located in the majestic mountains of central Idaho, approximately 100 miles from Boise, Baumgartner Campground lies on the banks of the South Fork Boise River with towering ponderosa pines providing shade during the hot summer days. The campground is located along the South Fork Boise River 12 miles east of Featherville, Idaho.
Self-contained RV or travel trailer is required. Tools, campground supplies, potable water, telephone, propane, and septic will be provided. Host will need to provide their own power source if desired, as well as a vehicle that can travel gravel roads and be used to conduct campground maintenance. Hosts may receive reimbursement for food and incidentals up to $28/day and may be reimbursed for mileage related directly to maintenance of the campground and adjacent areas.
This campground is located 70 miles from the nearest hospital and large grocery store. Featherville, Idaho is 12 miles to the west and has a hotel and a restaurant. The nearest fuel and small convenience store are located in Pine, Idaho approximately 25 miles away.
Requirements of the position:
- Pass a minimal background check and possess a valid state driver’s license.
- Volunteer a minimum of 3 hours a day/21-30 hours weekly and be available other times for public interactions.

- Volunteers need to be able to conduct light physical work such as raking, shoveling, pushing wheelbarrows, lifting up to 20 pounds, and operating weed eaters or leaf blowers.
Volunteer Detail information:
We have one position open at this site. The campground host will be expected to fill and drain the hot pool each day at dawn and dusk, post reservations, clean campsites, clean and stock vault-style toilets in the campground as well as 6 other vault toilets in the immediate area, make public contacts, and other duties common to campground hosting. Off highway vehicles (ATVs, UTVs, off-road motorcycles) and pack/saddle stock are not allowed in this campground. Hosts will help educate the public on this and other campground rules.
- Outgoing personality with strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform light maintenance work in outdoor conditions
- Ability to maintain daily written logs
- Ability to interact with diverse visitors while maintaining a positive, helpful and non-confrontational attitude.
Environment:
Work location is outdoors in a remote campground on the South Fork of the Boise River.
Required Days:
Thursday-Monday each week
