DESCRIPTION:

Park host volunteer couples needed to manage Doll Mountain Campground

 

Volunteers will be responsible for the day to day management of Doll Mountain Campground. This will include management of site check-in and check-out tracking, facility condition, rule information, and some minor maintenance.

 

Host couple will be required to complete a national background investigation through the USACE Mobile District Security Office, including fingerprinting. This process will also include the completion of the EQIP questionnaire online. The only exception will be if you have completed this process for the USACE within the past year and have not broken service with the USACE for more than a year. Further, your background investigation results must be locatable within the USACE security system. If they are not you will be required to complete the process.

 

 

DUTIES
– Maintenance of daily check-in and check-out roster. – Preparation of campsites with materials for camper self check-in. – Opening and closing of main gate at opening and closing times. – Patrol of parks for general rule advisement and surveillance. – Notifying maintenance contractor liason of maintenance issues requiring attention. – Ordering/maintaining stock of necessary office materials in gatehouse. – Fueling government vehicle used for patrol of park. – Minor cutting and trimming of grass around some public areas, such as bathhouse. – Some clean-up and blowing off of campsites after camper checkout. – Additional duties as may become necessary.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS
– Must be a two person team (no single volunteers). – Ability to work on shift 25-35 hours/shift and be available after hours in evenings while on shift. – Ability to work with people, sometimes in difficult situations. – Use of and knowledge of basic computer technology. – Ability to be organized and maintain paperwork records. – Ability to walk on uneven terrain and for moderate distances. – Must hold valid drivers license to operate government vehicle. – Use of standard manual lawn equipment (i.e. push mower and weed eater).

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Combination of indoor and outdoor. Host will spend time in gatehouse doing clerical work for incoming and outgoing reservations. They will spend time in vehicle and on foot driving/walking to sites to place camper tags and materials at site post. Work will primarily be limited to daytime hours, however occasional work on call after hours may be required (usually no more than 10-15 minutes/per occasion).

 

Campsite with water/30&50 amp/sewer provided for your self contained camper unit. Secure laundry room available on site for use by hosts. Required hours range 25-35 hours per 4 day shift and availability for small periods after hours on those days.
