JOB DESCRIPTION:

Hot Springs National Park is looking for passionate, problem-solving, and adventurous folks to become Campground Hosts at Gulpha Gorge Campground starting mid-April.

This position is non-paid 32 hour/week volunteer service with a full RV 30/50 amp hook up site in exchange for service. Volunteers are asked to serve a minimum of 4 months and are allowed a maximum of 6 months. Following your application, an interview and reference check will be conducted before a candidate is selected. A federal background check is required.

Campground hosts are responsible for visitor service and maintenance at the campground including but not limited to:

• Check in/Check out campground guests
• Providing visitors and guests with park information and directions
• Cleaning campground and vacant campsites after visitor departure (such as picking up trash, extinguishing fires, maintaining fire pits and grills).
• Encourage visitors to practice Leave No Trace principles and to maintain a safe distance from all wildlife.
• Keep campground office clean, neat, and organized as it is shared by all campground host volunteers and some NPS staff
• Contact appropriate park staff and emergency services when necessary
