JOB DESCRIPTION:

Seeking an engaging individual(s) as a Nature Center host/receptionist at Carters Lake in Chatsworth, GA.  We are looking for a 3 to 6-month commitment with minimum 24 hours a week in exchange for a spacious 50/30-amp full hook up site at our Volunteer Village and access to free washer/dryer.

 

As a host, you will provide customer service and an enthusiastic voice for our natural resources. Orientation, procedures and equipment training are provided by Park Ranger staff. Duties: Opening and closing the Nature Center and maintaining orderly presentation of displays and literature. Understanding basic policies and procedures pertaining to Carters Lake recreational facilities to provide pertinent information to the public. Interacting with visiting public by assisting with information, park passes, water safety messaging and Ranger-led interpretive programs. Receiving and documenting calls with basic knowledge of lake operations and points of contact. Opportunities to participate in local public outreach events representing the Carters Lake team. General volunteer duties as needed, such as trail walking, volunteer team events, and light park maintenance.

 

Work environment: Hosts typically work 2-3 days/week in the Nature Center and supplement additional hours with general volunteer project work. The Nature Center is open year-round with a two-season schedule:

– Recreation season (mid-May through Labor Day)- Sun, Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat 10am-5pm

– Winter – weekdays only (closed on Wed) 10am-5pm

 

Preferred qualifications include a background in customer service, education, interpretation, and basic office technology. Good interpersonal skills to assist with general visitor information and working with team mates is a must.

 

Fingerprint check for position as host at minimum. Background Investigation required if position will extend beyond 6 months and if job duties require government computer access. Position does not require unescorted access to government facilities.
