JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is a great opportunity if you are looking to make a lasting impact on the environment. In exchange for 21 hours of service per week, USACE will provide a full-hookup campsite. The 21 hours can be achieved individually or via multiple people. This position will work independently and as a team to achieve the following goals.

 

Environmental Steward Ship Duties are to include:

1. Care for newly planted trees by watering, mulching and protecting from the elements. May have any opportunity to plant more trees.

2. Assist with creation and maintaining of firebreaks.

3. Monitor Blue Bird box program by checking Blue Bird Boxes every week and performing any necessary maintenance.

4. Combat invasive species by cutting and treating with chemical.

5. Assist with boundary sign placement for our Permit Only Hunting Program.

6. Collect native prairie plant seed to disperse in other natural areas on USACE Coralville Lake Property.

7. Assist Environmental Stewardship Ranger with any big group volunteer events- National Public Lands Day, Earth Day, School Group Projects, Etc.

8. All other duties as assigned.
