JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Description:
This position is for the Tuolumne Meadows sub-district of Yosemite National Park. The position is as a desk officer, to help field staff by taking non-emergent service calls and file type reports.
The position will also:
Provide park information to the visitors
Assist park personnel or Rangers as needed or directed
Drive a government vehicle
Direct traffic as needed
Assist with search and rescue
Use park radio system; use park telephone system
Complete any other duties appropriate for Desk Office volunteers as may be needed
Primary Goal: To assist the field Ranger operations by taking non-emergent law enforcement reports, thereby allowing Park Rangers to respond as necessary to more emergent duties. To support other National Park Service work units on a short-term basis as specifically directed. The season in Tuolumne will typically run from Memorial Day weekend thru the end of September but opportunities may be available elsewhere in the park outside of the Tuolumne season. Previous law enforcement experience preferred.
