Job Description

We are looking for a new seasonal park host at the Dungeness River Nature Center! All details below.
Location: Dungeness River Nature Center & Railroad Bridge Park, Sequim WA
Position: Park Host
Start Date: November 1st 2025
Position Duration: November 2025 – April 2026 (future positions also welcome to apply May to October 2026 & July to December 2026)
How to apply: Send your resume and info to Vanessa@DungenessRiverCenter.org
(Additional instructions for applying is listed below.)
Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest while supporting an organization dedicated to environmental education and conservation. If you’re a nature lover, this is a great opportunity to connect with the community and help foster a love for the great outdoors.
• Enjoy a spacious RV site nestled in the beautiful Railroad Bridge Park, right off the Olympic Discovery Trail. Access outdoor activities like running, biking, and wildlife watching right at your doorstep!
• On your off days, explore the stunning North Olympic Peninsula, including Olympic National Park, picturesque beaches, lush forests, and mountains.
• About the area: Sequim Washington is full of charm with an active arts scene, surrounded by natural beauty, outdoor activities abound, and is one of the driest places in Western Washington.
Position Overview: As a host, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the park is welcoming, safe, and well-maintained. You’ll engage with visitors, answer questions, and help create memorable experiences during peak hours, weekends, and evenings.
This is a seasonal unpaid position that requires a 20-hour weekly commitment in exchange for a free site with full hookups. The workload is overall light, and these hours can be accomplished by one person or split between two people.
Information about the park: Please note that our park is a day use area and not a campground. The park hosts are the only ones who stay on site.
Key Responsibilities:
• Be a Park Ambassador: Lead by example, following all park rules and fostering a friendly atmosphere.
• Visitor Engagement: Familiarize yourself with the park and its visitors, ensuring they feel welcomed and informed.
• Monitor Park Activities: Be present during peak hours and handle any disruptions by contacting law enforcement when necessary.
• Communication: Maintain regular contact with River Center staff and attend weekly meetings to report on park conditions.
• Daily Duties: Manage restroom cleanliness, open and close park facilities, garbage and litter removal, and assist with morning and evening operations.
• Technology Use: Comfortability with technology and willingness to learn our AV systems.
• Ongoing Maintenance: Ensure park cleanliness, refill bird feeders, and conduct light maintenance tasks.
• Present in Park: During work days, hosts will need to be on site and on call. Early mornings and late evenings are required for opening and closing of the park.
• Special Projects: Participate in community events and assist with large annual activities
• Extra Duties and Projects: As assigned or approved by Operations Manager to fulfill 20-hour weekly commitment per host (or couple).
• If your scheduled shift falls on a holiday you are expected to work the holiday.
What You Receive:
• Free RV Spot with Full Hookups Included
• High-Speed Internet
• Access to Park Facilities: Use park amenities when they don’t conflict with programming.
• Free Classes: Join River Center classes at no charge when space is available.
Non-Permitted Activities: We prioritize a safe environment. Activities such as illegal drug use, threatening behavior, or unauthorized enforcement of rules are strictly prohibited. It is particularly important that the Host remains cordial and non-threatening with visitors. This is not an enforcement position – it relies on the Host knowing how to appropriately approach visitors and when to contact River Center staff and/or law enforcement when necessary.
Position Terms:
If you cannot fulfill your responsibilities or violate park rules, you may be asked to vacate the position with 20 days’ notice. This contract can also be terminated by either party with a 20-day written notice.
Interested? Here’s what we need:
• The time frame you are applying for (May to Oct. / Aug. to Jan. / Nov. to April)
• A resume or write-up that tells us a bit about you and your skills that makes you a good candidate for this position.
• Along with your resume please send a picture of you with your travel companions (if any), pets, your rig, and your vehicle(s).
• Three professional references.
Please send your resume and photos to Vanessa@DungenessRiverCenter.org and also reach out for additional questions at 360-681-5636 or message us on here.
This is a seasonal position that will start November 1st and run until the end of April 2026.
Application process: We will be reviewing application on Monday September 29, 2025.
If you’re interested but can’t start right away, please apply for upcoming positions (May to October 2026 & July to December 2026).
We look forward to hearing from you!
