JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

Gatehouse duties are mostly indoors, and cleaning sites and other duties mostly takes place outdoors and may require extended periods during adverse conditions such as heat, cold, and rain. Volunteers are expected to have the ability to work independently but can work with other volunteers and USACE staff.

 

·      This is a two-person job. NO handling of money and NO restroom cleaning.

Desire to work an 8 hours/day, 3 days on 3 days off. Which is approximately 32 hours per week.  We do provide a full hook up site so you can live in a natural outdoor setting, with your own RV.

 

·       If willing to commit to a full season of 16 weeks which is May 9th- Sept 5th (to include both “bookend” holidays), volunteer will be eligible for round-trip long-distance mileage i.e., $0.67/mile in 2024 (TBA for 2026) if its 100 miles or more. However, not to exceed an accumulative total of $1000 for the round trip, between current residence and duty station upon completion of your service, to be paid in full after you have returned home.

 

·       If you are committed to half a season of 8 weeks to include May 9th – July 6th week or July 6th – Sept. 5th, volunteer will be eligible for a one-way trip long-distance mileage i.e. (0.67/mile in 2024, TBA for 2026), if its 100 miles or more. However, not to exceed an accumulative total of $500 for a one-way trip, between current residence and duty station upon completion of your service, to be paid in full after you have returned home.

 

·       We will work with folks who have a shorter time frame in mind they just won’t qualify for the long-distance reimbursement.

 

· Desire to meet and interact with people from varied backgrounds.

 

· Physical ability to lift 30 pounds and carry for 25 feet and work in the heat.

 

· Volunteers are expected to have the ability to work independently but can work with other volunteers and USACE staff.

 

· Beginning of season clean gatehouse and campground picnic tables

 

· Open gate at 6am and close gate 10:00pm

· On call throughout the night when on duty

· Check campers in

· Post tags/clean tags

· Run reports

· Clean campsites / pick up trash.

· Clean BBQ and group shelters in Day Use area

· Inform rules to campers.

· Chlorine water test

· Record lost and found items.

· Visitor contacts – reminding them of the rules.
