DESCRIPTION:

Looking for 2 couples to fill the Grounds Maintenance / Park Host positions from April, 2022 to September, 2022

 

Wearing two hats:

  1. Ground Maintenance includes mowing, irrigating, and cleaning campsites. Camping is free and it is a first come first serve.
  2. Park Host includes checking in with campers. You will be informing them of a few of the main rules, which volunteer site is on duty at the time, and being eyes and ears for the Park Rangers

 

DUTIES
  • Beginning of season cleaning of gatehouse, campground picnic tables, and pickup of branches
  • Mowing and irrigating
  • Open gate at 6am and close gate at 10:00pm
  • On Call throughout the night
  • Check campers in
  • Clean campsites
  • Inform rules to campers
  • Perform chlorine water tests

 

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Desire to work a minimum of 28 hours per week and live in a natural outdoor setting, with you own RV (9 hours per day / 3 days on 3 days off)
  • Desire to meet and interact with people from varied backgrounds
  • Appearance should be neat and reflect positively on the Corps
  • Ability to remain calm in busy situations
  • Physical ability to lift approximately 30 pounds and carry for 25 feet
  • Visually able to spot safety hazards and take prompt appropriate action to correct in accordance with training provided

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position mostly takes place outdoors and may require extended periods during adverse conditions such as heat, cold, and rain. Volunteers are expected to have the ability to work independently but can work with other volunteers and USACE staff.
