JOB DESCRIPTION:
Fort Raleigh National Historic Site nestled on the Outer Banks of North Carolina seeks energetic people who love to engage visitors in rich historical stories. You will play an active role on the Interpretive team as we greet hundreds of visitors to the site daily. The positions main duties include operation the park visitor center, orienting park visitors to the park’s offering, and a possibility of doing programs on the Lost Colony of Roanoke Island, the Civil War, and more!
The park visitor center features museum exhibits and artifacts dating to the first English settlement attempts in North America and a Freedmen’s Colony during the American Civil War. Walking tours and interpretive programs are offered throughout the day and can attract crowds of 60+ visitors. We also host many school field trips helping to teach students about the history of the country and starting point of colonization by England.
The position is flexible; however, we ask that you are available during the bulk of the requested time. An RV site with full hook-ups (must provide your own RV) is available with a 32 hour a week commitment.
Winter weather in the Outer Banks can be windy and cold but is often snow free! Spring is pleasant with occasional thunderstorms and cold dips. Come join our Fort Raleigh team for this winter and spring!
