Hiring: Fly Shop General Manager – Cottonwood Camp
📍 Fort Smith, MT | Full-Time | Salary + Housing Provided
Run the shop. Lead the guides. Own the river operation.
Cottonwood Camp is seeking an experienced Fly Shop General Manager to oversee all fly shop operations and manage our guided fishing and hunting program on the legendary Bighorn River. This is a leadership role for someone who knows fly fishing, understands retail, and can manage people, logistics, and guest expectations without hand-holding.

About Cottonwood Camp
Cottonwood Camp is a riverfront property on the Bighorn River, welcoming anglers from around the country. Our operation includes lodging, RV sites, and a fully functioning fly shop with guided fishing services. We value professionalism, consistency, and authentic Montana hospitality.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
🎣 Fly Shop Operations
Manage daily fly shop operations, retail sales, inventory, and merchandising
Ensure a high-quality guest experience for anglers of all skill levels
Oversee shop scheduling, hours, and seasonal readiness
🚤 Guide & River Operations
Coordinate boat drop-offs and pick-ups
Schedule, manage, and oversee fishing and hunting guides
Act as the main point of contact for guide operations and guest fishing and hunting logistics
Maintain safety standards and smooth day-to-day river operations
👥 Leadership & Management
Manage relationships and logistics with fishing guides and outfitters
Set expectations, schedules, and operational standards
Communicate clearly with ownership and on-site innkeeping staff
📋 Planning & Oversight
Monitor performance, guest feedback, and operational needs
Help shape the overall fishing and hunting program and guest experience
Manage fly shop inventory
What You Bring
✔ Strong fly fishing knowledge and industry experience
✔ Prior retail, outfitting, or guide management experience
✔ Confident leadership and people-management skills
✔ Highly organized and comfortable coordinating logistics
✔ Professional, guest-first mindset
✔ Ability to work independently and make decisions
