JOB DESCRIPTION:

Lake Sidney Lanier is recruiting individuals for several volunteer positions. Volunteers must be professional with exceptional customer service skills. Able to work independently. Other helpful qualifications include the ability to speak Spanish and knowledge/understanding of the America the Beautiful Interagency passes. Volunteers with an RV will be provided a RV campsite in exchanges for service hours.

 

Volunteers will work inside (i.e. in gatehouses, patrolling in their personal vehicle) and outside near fee machines which are adjacent to their gatehouse providing visitors assistance regarding credit card fee machine operation but will not handle money from the public. Volunteers will convey park rules and regulations, provide direction to picnic shelters, swim beaches etc., conduct parking space counts with their privately owned vehicles to ensure that their park does not become overcrowded beyond its capacity, as well as maintain clear and constant communication with Park Rangers when reporting violations or critical needs. When parks become full, must notify dispatch and if needed close the park to the public at the gatehouse entrance. Summer months near the Metropolitan Atlanta area are hot and humid. Volunteers may be standing for long periods of time assisting visitors.

 

Volunteers will work both independently and with USACE staff during periods of high gatehouse visitation. Work requirements for volunteers will be 30-35 hours per couple each weekend. Weekdays are off days except for Mondays or Fridays that fall on Holiday weekends. Volunteers must provide some of their own uniform items such as pants, shorts, and footwear. The Project will provide a red Polo shirt, person protective equipment, gatehouse attendant guidebook, and name tag.
