JOB DESCRIPTION:

Campground Hosts assist with operation and maintenance of park campgrounds, report any campground issues to park staff, and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for park visitors. On occasion, Campground Hosts may assist in other areas of park operations.

 

Duties include:

  • Staffing the campground fee booth at the park’s main campground.
  • Provide customer service to campers, perform check-ins and check-outs, and process registrations using a government-owned computer.
  • Rove campgrounds to monitor visitor safety and campground maintenance issues, and report issues to appropriate park staff.
  • Direct traffic to overflow parking areas during heavy visitation.
  • Light maintenance/custodial duties.
  • Other duties as needed (such as: assisting in the visitor center, answering questions on phones or in person, and backcountry patrol).

The work is generally active and can range from easy to moderately strenuous. Volunteers must be able to safely lift up to 25 lbs., stand/sit for extended periods, work in both indoor and outdoor environments, and work in varying weather conditions and temperatures. Walking on uneven surfaces and routinely bending, stooping, and kneeling will often be required to perform tasks.

 

Volunteers must be comfortable working with people of varying ages and backgrounds and can expect to make a high number of visitor contacts in a typical day, especially during the summer season.

 

The park will provide the Campground Host with a fee free RV campsite with full amenities, including campground fire ring, picnic table, and water/electric/sewer hookups. Volunteers are required to reside in the campground at the campground host assigned site and provide their own dwelling (ie.. RV, camper, van, tent, etc..)

 

A background check will be required in order to gain access the government computer for utilizing the reservation system.
