ADDRESS: PO Box 1888, 340 North Cache  null, Wyoming, 83001

DATES: 6/1/2026 – 10/1/2026

DEPT: Forest Service

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Bridger-Teton National Forest (BTNF) is part of the largest intact ecosystem in the lower 48 states. 3.48 million acres stretch from the southern border of Yellowstone National Park, covering the entire eastern flank of Grand Teton National Park, wrapping around Jackson Hole valley, to southwest-central Wyoming. The Bridger-Teton is characterized by high elevation coniferous forests, sage/grass steppes, mountain ranges and deep valleys, large expanses of wild lands and three wilderness areas, abundant wildlife, and internationally recognized scenic and natural features.

Located about 4 miles south of Wilson, Wyoming, the Mosquito Creek area is accessed via the Fall Creek Road. The main duties of this position are to provide visitors with education, information and keep an eye on overall conditions of the area. Typically, volunteers perform patrols of the area using a UTV or truck. During these patrols, they greet campers, ensure they are staying in a designated site and not out of bounds, and provide them with information on how to camp responsibly: proper food storage in bear country, respecting stay limits, remembering to put out fires, pack out trash and dispose of human waste properly. There are about a dozen campsites at the site, and Mosquito Creek is a popular spot for OHV use. Please note, this role is a part of the Ambassadors for Responsible Recreation Program that is managed jointly with Friends of the Bridger-Teton.

Qualifications:

Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
Physical ability to perform outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
Good communication skills and willingness to engage with Forest visitors as an educational resource.

Interested volunteers will live on-site at Mosquito Creek and will need their own RV or trailer (large motorhomes will likely not be able to fit comfortably at the Mosquito Creek site.) There is a vault toilet, but no hook ups or internet is available.
