Job Description
Come live and work along the beautiful San Pedro River! Located between Tombstone and Sierra Vista, AZ.
We are looking for a part-time maintenance worker/ contractor to help build enclosures and finish our outdoor bathrooms for youth outdoor education & hosting school groups.
About us:
We are a wildlife sanctuary, guest farm, and outdoor education nonprofit located on the San Pedro River. The San Pedro River is considered one of the birding hotspots in North America and boasts nearly 400 bird species. We are looking for someone in maintenance/ construction to help finish our outdoor bathrooms. We host hundreds of kids each year to teach nature conservation, wildlife conservation and provide opportunities to be in nature. On site are animals both wild (rescue and free roaming) and domestic animals (dogs, ponies, chickens, turkeys, pigs, and so much more). In addition, we are also restoring/ replanting native trees along the river. We also have a fruit orchard and food gardens. This is a very quiet and tranquil place. Where you can hear wildlife at night and see the stars. However, we are only an 18-minute drive to town. Pool available to be used. Guest house with toilet/ shower may also be accessed. Unlimited birdwatching and hiking are available. Mild weather averaging 87° / 60° in September and 62° / 33° in December.
Duties include: Working on outdoor bathrooms/ showers (electrical repairs, installing lights, patch and paint, plumbing repairs/ installing toilets, hanging doors, tile, basic troubleshooting, etc.) in addition to general repairs, building/ repairing animal rescue pens/ cages. And release enclosures. Candidate must have experience with plumbing and electrical. Welding experience is a bonus but not necessary.
Ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and experience in construction/ maintenance. Be able to work independently to help our vision materialize. Must be able to troubleshoot but also check in for problems that arise. Flexible schedule, where you set your own hours and can explore the area/ travel. Must enjoy animals and nature.
Compensation: Free place to park RV, laundry facilities, river access, etc. Additional compensation may be considered based on skills and commitment. Fresh chicken eggs and garden produce provided.
