DATES: 5/22/2025 – 10/18/2025
DEPT: National Park Service
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Please thoroughly review the following description for details and instructions on filling out your application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Campgrounds that we may be recruiting for in the 2025 season include Aspenglen Campground, Glacier Basin Campground, Longs Peak Campground, Moraine Park Campground, and Timber Creek Campground.
Most campground host sites can accommodate an RV or trailer that is up to 35 or 40ft in length. Electric hookups are 30 or 40 amps, and adapters may be available. Most campgrounds have full hookups. Longs Peak Campground has a portable water system.
Most campgrounds will open May 22nd and remain open through September or October. Longs Peak has a reduced season on July 3rd – September 7th. Please note that hosts who are able to serve the entire season will be given priority, but partial seasons may be considered.
Schedule: 3 days on, 3 days off. At all sites besides Longs Peak, you will work with at least one other campground host. Hosts will need to serve at least 32 hours a week to qualify for park housing, (an RV/trailer site) but may be required to serve more. Specific days/hours of shifts will be decided between the hosts and the campground supervisor. It is unlikely that you will work the same days of the week, every week. For example, you might work Monday-Wednesday one week, Sunday-Tuesday into the next week, Saturday-Monday into the following week, etc.
Duties include, but are not limited to: cleaning out fire pits, removing debris from campsites, encouraging compliance with campground rules, reporting any disturbances to the park’s law enforcement, and following instructions from park staff. Volunteers will be required to work long hours on their feet.
All campground hosts who are selected will be required to:
- Complete and pass a federal background investigation
- Complete CPR/First Aid/AED Training and be physically able to provide CPR
- Complete volunteer paperwork via Volunteer.gov
- Report volunteer hours via Volunteer.gov (if campground has service) or a paper timesheet (only if cell service is not available)
In your application, please include the following in the ‘Any other additional qualifications?’ section:
- Your dates of availability
- The length of your trailer/RV
- Any past experience serving as a campground host for a national park, national forest, state park, or other campground
- Which campgrounds you would like to be considered for/are willing to host at
Recruitment via Volunteer.gov will continue until all positions are filled. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
