Job Description
We are looking for two (2) couples.
This position is shared with other volunteers on a revolving schedule with 5 days on 2 days off. (flexible)
Full RV hookups are available, and you will be based in St Regis, MT in an administration site at a Forest Service work center.
This unique opportunity requires individuals to maintain all the dispersed camping sites in our west zone recreation areas, which includes alpine lakes, campgrounds, river access sites and day use areas.
Vehicles are provided and a government license is required through training we provide.
Individuals must be comfortable driving narrow mountain roads and long distances.
It will not be your responsibility to enforce rules; however, you will need to be comfortable speaking with visitors about the rules and regulations and encourage compliance. Local Forest Service law enforcement is available if necessary.
Duties Include:
Monitoring recreation areas and dispersed sites throughout the west zone.
Cleaning and stocking of remote SST’s and vault toilets.
Weed eating around signs and SST’s when needed.
Cleaning out fire rings.
Patrolling and reporting dump sites, road hazards, and suspicious activities.
Picking up litter and dump sites.
Post fire stage restriction signs and informing the public.
Miscellaneous painting.
Minor maintenance work.
