JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Magazine Ranger District is seeking a Campground Host for Spring Lake Recreation Area. The Ranger District is located in the Arkansas River Valley on the Western edge of the Ozark-St. Francis National Forests. This area is known for its beautiful, natural scenery, sandstone bluffs, flowing streams, lakes and pristine landscapes. the 82-acre Spring Lake is a favorite area for water sports such as canoeing, paddleboarding, swimming and fishing. Beautiful hardwood/conifer forests surround the lake.
Volunteer Hosts will be expected to:
- Provide friendly service and recreation information to campers, hikers, bicyclers, and day-use visitors.
- Greet visitors at the camping loop, day-use area and facilities twice a day.
- perform some litter pick-up, and daily clean the restrooms/showers in all the picnic/day-use/campground areas.
- Work Schedule Thursday – Monday, minimum 4 hrs. a day.
Hosts are provided with an RV space, including full 30-amp hookup with water/septic. To get to Spring Lake Recreation Area, take Arkansas 27 southwest from Dardanelle for 9 miles, then right (west) on Arkansas 307 (paved) for 3 miles to Forest Service Road 1602 (gravel) continuing on for 4 miles to Spring Lake. Other route is to take Arkansas 307 north from Belleville for 4 miles to Forest Service Road 1602 (gravel), continue on 1602 for 3 miles. Trailer rigs are easily negotiable to get there.
