JOB DESCRIPTION:
About Susan Creek: Susan Creek Campground is well known for its beautiful setting along the emerald-green waters of the North Umpqua Wild and Scenic River. Nestled under the canopy of a mature forest, the campsites are surrounded by trees up to seven feet in diameter. The North Umpqua boasts world class fly-fishing, as well as hiking opportunities along the Emerald Trail and North Umpqua Trail.
- 🗓️ Position Details:
• Dates: Mid-April-November 16, 2025
- 🤝 Duties:
- Greet visitors and provide information if asked, such as directions, nearby services and attractions, use of facilities, payment of fees, campground regulations, etc.
- Perform light maintenance tasks such as hand pulling weeds (blackberry, scotch broom, etc.), leaf blowing, brush trimming, debris piling, trash pickup, etc. Please do not operate noise making equipment (e.g. leaf blowers, mowers) before 8:00 am (the later, the better) and after 5:00 pm.
- Restroom facilities should be cleaned at least once a day and checked on often. Make sure restrooms have adequate toilet paper, paper towels, hand sanitizer and soap (if applicable).
- Inspect and clean campsites after each occupation, if possible. This includes raking of the tent pads and removal of trash. Cleaning of the fire ring and/or pedestal grill may be needed once or twice per week, unless there is an unusual amount of ash, trash, or debris.
- Inspect and clean day-use areas as well as all other areas of the campground. This includes trails, walkways, horseshoe pits, volleyball courts and swimming areas.
- If your campground has a pavilion, it should be checked often for floor, sink, and table cleanliness.
- Keep your site neat and tidy at all times. Your site is not to be used for the storage of extra vehicles, boats or trailers unless authorization from a member of the recreation planning staff has been given.
- Assist campers with firewood if needed-
- Rove the campground and unobtrusively check for compliance with rules and regulations pertaining to parking, campfires, noise levels, sanitation, and safety.
- Keep information board and brochure racks tidy and stocked; notify Jacob when more brochures or handouts are needed.
- Post ‘Campground Full’ signs at entrance when at capacity.
- Notify recreation staff members and/or law enforcement of problems and possible violations, dependent upon the nature of the incident.
- Bring maintenance needs and safety issues to the attention of BLM maintenance staff.
