When looking for a work camping spot please take the time to consider what makes our corner for the world a great opportunity. We stand out from other business because we are a fourth generation family owned and operated business that was built from a husband and wife’s dream. This dream was continued by their daughter, grandson and great grandchildren. We started out as a small gas station for truckers in the 1930s selling our “Ho” made pie and have grown to a restaurant, gift shop, 9 hole golf course, and 61 room motel. We hire for staff for those positions as well, so don’t count yourself out if you don’t work in the food industry, just shoot me a resume and questions and I will get back to you ASAP.
Please check out more on our family history and business on thunderbirdutah.com
AREA: The Thunderbird is located right in the heart of Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon National Park, and Dixie National Forest as well as 4 hours from Las Vegas. If you are looking for a jaw dropping gorgeous area that switches from desert landscapes to mountain forest with a few hours drive then this is the place for you. The area is the perfect match for outdoorsy people that enjoy ATVing, hiking, star gazing, fishing, natural history, American history, and rural living. Many people overlook Utah when choosing a spot to Work Camp, but Utah is a hidden gem. The state not only offers over 40 state and national parks in the 300 miles it covers, but the people here are truly wonderful. Don’t worry we have all heard the jokes about the Mormons, our locals take it in stride with a chuckle, but Utah if full of people that would give you the shirt off their backs.
JOB INFO: Our restaurant is a Must Do on peoples vacation guides because of our famous “Ho-Made” Pies sign. We see a lot of foot traffic domestic and international and high turn over rates for tables. Our dinning room fits around 175 people and the menu is American Comfort food; Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. We are looking for staff members who can stay focused and work under pressure. The ideal employee would be someone who can start in our prep cook station, then move to the fryer. More advanced employees may get to move onto the grill but that does take previous experience in a high volume restaurant. Our prep cook are paid $16, fryer/middleman cook are $17. If you can work you way onto the grill we pay $18 and raises from there, but that would take a year round commitment to receive the amount of training expected.
For reference we usually have 1 grill, 1 middle man, 1 fryer, 1 prep cook, and 1 dishwasher.

On site there is a pond for catch an release fishing, a river that runs the back part of the property, and ATV trails that lead off the property, if you have a Ebike you are also more then welcome to ride it around the trails. The park does butt up against the highway but it is safe for people with children. We do rent out the empty spots nightly but in our experience people keep to themselves. We do not have cement pads under our spots so you will need to bring leveling block, we also do not provide bathrooms so homes must be self contained. No Vans. Each spot come with hook ups to Water, Sewage, and Electricity. This is included in your site fee which is $250 for 30 AMP and $300 for 50 AMP, a month. If you are interested in renting one of our Trailers its a base rate of $400 and can go up depending on the amount of tenants. We do not allow animals inside our trailers, we allow our work campers to have animals but they need to sign a contract about our expectations. We do not allow PITBULLS.
EMPLOYMENT EXPECTATIONS:
Keep yourself and work areas clean. Trimmed beards and up kept hair. If you have long hair it must be kept up or in a hair net, the head chef will let you know during intake interview.
We expect employees to wear black non slip shoes, jean pants or shorts, and chef jacket or waist apron. We do not allow sweat pants and ripped clothing.
To be able to work with the older generation but have the patience to work with management as we train the younger generation as well.
We respect communication, not complaints. If you have an issue verbalize it constructively and don’t be afraid to communicate expectations with other employees. Management will help with issues but expect to speak up on your own behalf.
We expect our employees to be available for a 40 hour a week scheduled with 2 days off. The days will always be scheduled, unless you have asked management for OT hours. If a 40 hour a week is deal breaker please still apply, we are hoping to open up 7 days a week (our pre COVID hours) and we might be able to work with you.
The season goes from March – October but if someone is a valued employee we are willing to do year round. We have had a few people who have come to us multiple times or stayed multiple years. If you are willing to sign a 6 month contract we will give you the first month free to help out with travel expenses. The contacts are straight forward and don’t need a lawyer to look over. We have seen many a work camper webites with the complaint that jobs were changed, or expectations were changed once they arrived. We have never received such a complaint about us, we are upfront and honest people. We are just looking for people who love to see new places that are willing to work hard and keep our families dream alive and prospering.
