DESCRIPTION:

This is volunteer position at the Hiawatha National Forest information booth located at the Pictured Rocks Interpretive Center. Looking for energetic, enthused volunteers who love to work with visitors. The visitor center features attractive exhibits and a sales area where visitors can purchase posters, clothing, and a variety of publications that will foster a greater understanding of the region.

 

Seeking an individual or a couple who are energetic, happy and love to work with visitors. Volunteer hosts provide information and education opportunities for visitors and community members. Volunteers must enjoy working with people, work well with a team, be flexible and be able to work with little supervision.

 

DUTIES

Key duties for visitor hosts include:

1) Provide information about Forest recreation opportunities and natural resources

2) Assist the staff with customer service and self-guided activities in the Visitor Center

3) General upkeep and maintenance of the Visitor Center facility

4) Have fun

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to communicate with individuals or larger groups

Comfortable working with little supervision

Ability to work within a team/district program

Knowledge of natural and/or cultural resources a bonus

Interest in exploring and learning about the Forest and sharing that knowledge with visitors is a must!
