JOB DESCRIPTION:
Volunteer will clean up vacated campsites the day guests check out in preparation for future incoming visitors. Work schedule requires five consecutive days on duty followed by two consecutive days off. Volunteer may be required to work up to 25 hours a week depending on campsite turnover needs. Hours worked each day will vary depending on check-in/out activity that day. Campsites must be ready for incoming guests by the 4:00pm check-in time. A full hookup campsite is provided for the volunteer while filling the position. Volunteer must provide their own RV/camper for housing as well as a vehicle or UTV/ATV/golf cart capable of hauling trash, ash buckets, etc., during rounds.
Campsite Cleaners will review Recreation.gov website to identify campsites scheduled to be vacated that day and will proceed to inspect, clean, and prepare the site for incoming campers. Trash will be collected from the immediate area and taken to dumpster. Surplus of ashes will be scooped from fire ring and taken to dump point. Rocks and leaves will be swept/blown from concrete parking and living pads. Any damages to facilities identified will be documented and reported to Ranger staff. Additional cleanup may be required in community day-use areas and group shelters.
Volunteer will need the ability to walk on unleveled terrain, carry up to 20 lbs., and bend over frequently. Must be able to use basic maintenance hand tools such as a push broom, trash grabber, leaf blower, shovel and bucket, etc. Must posses a vehicle (road vehicle/UTV/ATV/golf cart) capable of hauling trash to dumpsters and ash bucket to disposal points as needed.
