DESCRIPTION:
Volunteer maintenance at at historic tree nursery including visitor information, general groundskeeping and assisting the Superior Ranger District in various work projects on site.
Host opportunity is at Haugan, Montana at the historic Savenac Historic Nursery, with easy access to Interstate 90. The compound is an historic tree nursery now used as a low key visitor center with self-guided interpretive trails and cabin rentals on site are made available to the public through the Cabin Rental Program. This is a fun position that offers a variety of tasks and a chance to work with other great volunteers.
Duties of position include, but are not limited to:
- assisting at the visitor information center,
- providing information to the public about the history of the area,
- assisting building maintenance and upkeep of groundskeeping,
- assisting with organizing large annual volunteer Passport in Time Project and Savenac reunion in July,
- assist with checking in/out public rental facilities and light housekeeping
Volunteer must be able to adapt to changing priorities, enjoy working with the public and other volunteers.
