JOB DESCRIPTION:
Camp Host duties are to (un)lock gates to the campground on working days, operate a computer and the gatehouse 9 hours each day checking campers in/out, patrol the camp, answer the phone, and report to Ranger Staff any problems/issues. Must have basic computer skills working with a PC. Camp Hosts are required to have a background check due to the nature of the position and duration of stay.
Working days are 3 on/6 off, and typically a full hookup site is provided in return for services provided. There are several small to large cities within a 1/2-hour drive from either campground. Must work and communicate well with others, and be flexible, patient, and the ability to follow instructions.
Host will work mostly independently from USACE Staff but with Ranger staff will be patrolling in the campgrounds. Host will be working in a climate-controlled atmosphere with restroom access and sharing space with other Camp Hosts. Most visitors to the campgrounds are laid back, however, sometimes there’s the
opportunity for more challenging visitors that may require the assistance of Ranger Staff.
Basic computer skills, communication skills, teamwork skills, flexibility, and patience. We will train on the Recreation.gov platform for checking in/out campers.
