Workcamper Job Description – Camp Host / Manager
Position: Camp Host / Manager
Status: Workcamper (Full/Part-Time Seasonal)
Reports To: Owners
Supervises: Small team of maintenance, office, and cleaning staff

Overview
We are seeking a friendly, reliable, hands-on Camp Host/Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our small, welcoming campground located on 1900ft of Betsie River frontage.

This position is ideal for an experienced workcamper who enjoys leading a team, interacting with guests, and helping maintain a clean, safe, and enjoyable environment. Owners provide ongoing support, guidance, and backup as needed, while the Host/Manager manages daily activities and onsite staff. Great fishing during the spring steelhead run and fall salmon run (late August to early October). Come Experience the Beauty of Northern Michigan!

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Coordination

Supervise and support a small staff of maintenance, office, and cleaning personnel (4-6 staff throughout the season)
Create and manage staff schedules to ensure coverage for guest services, cleaning, and maintenance needs.
Provide clear communication, task assignments, and daily direction to team members.
Assist staff when needed, ensuring smooth and efficient campground operations.
Guest Services

Serve as the primary point of contact for guest questions, check-ins, and general campground assistance.
Maintain a friendly and professional presence throughout the campground.
Address guest concerns promptly and effectively, escalating to owners when appropriate.
Daily Operations & Administration

Oversee check-in/check-out processes and reservation systems (training provided).
Ensure office operations run smoothly, stocked, and organized.
Monitor facilities, restrooms, and common areas to maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
Assist in light maintenance tasks as needed or coordinate repairs with the maintenance staff.
Facility & Site Management

Conduct daily walk-throughs of the campground to identify issues or areas needing attention.
Help maintain a clean, tidy, and inviting appearance across the property.
Enforce campground rules with professionalism and diplomacy.
Communication & Reporting

Work closely with the owners to provide updates on staff performance, guest feedback, and operational needs and purchasing.
Report any safety concerns, equipment issues, or incidents in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Previous workcamping, campground hosting, or hospitality experience preferred.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Comfortable managing and supporting small staff teams.
Basic computer skills (reservation system experience helpful but not required).
Ability to perform light physical tasks and be on your feet throughout the day.
Friendly, approachable, organized, and reliable.

Stipend or hourly wage based on experience and scope of duties.

Schedule
Seasonal or year-round depending on applicant availability and campground needs. Weekends and some holidays required.
