JOB DESCRIPTION:
Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument (SAPU) is looking for Volunteers-in-Parks (VIP) to join the park’s Interpretation Division This Winter! We are an innovative and fast-paced park looking for passionate VIPs to join our team to help us build and leverage community partnerships, develop strategies to increase interpretive programs, and work alongside our dynamic team!
Support the Interpretation Division this Winter by operating one of the four (4) Visitor Centers at Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument near and within the small tight knit rural town of Mountainair, NM! As a Volunteers-in-Parks (VIP), you will professionally represent the National Park Service by providing,
Exceptionally high-quality visitor services.
Opening and closing visitor centers.
Providing orientation, information, and interpretation to visitors, during on-site and off-site events.
Informing visitors about park activities.
Conveying Park safety information and health hazards to the public.
Distributing maps and brochures as requested.
Operating a cashless register and selling bookstore merchandise.
As a SAPU Volunteer, you will be able to,
Access our library and learn about our park’s history for your own interest and to better present interpretation services.
Lead interpretive guided tours for visitors on your own.
Contribute to our NPS SAPU photo library.
Participate in All Employee Meetings and trainings and contribute ideas, opinions, and suggestions.
Have access to the park’s gym.
Attend volunteer field trips to areas of interest around NM.
Connect with our network of previous Volunteers-in-Parks.
Volunteer lodging/housing is AVAILABLE and consists of two (2) RV Pads. Millage reimbursement is offered for volunteers traveling between our sites for this opportunity.
