JOB DESCRIPTION:
Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge / Coastal New Jersey Complex is seeking to fill 1-2 Workcamper Maintenance Volunteer position. This position will primarily assist the Maintenance division in monitoring and maintaining landscaping, trails, signage and facilities to provide safe and accessible recreation for the public. Opportunities to assist in other Complex refuges and with biological fieldwork or in visitor services may also be available.
Workcampers will live on-site in close proximity to a fellow workcamper, adjacent to staff housing with laundry facilities, and approximately .5 miles from the office. An RV pad is provided with electric (30/50amp), sewer, and water hook-ups. Ample stores, restaurants and services are nearby. Volunteers must supply their own RV or camper. There is good cell service, carrier dependent. RVs must be self- contained as there is no access to restroom/shower facility on site.
Couples and singles must each commit to a minimum of 24 hours of service per week. Volunteers hold an important role in the Refuge and directly affect the quality and success of refuge operations; visitors’ safety, comfort, and enjoyment; and the public’s understanding and image of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
