Volunteer position – 20 hours weekly in exchange for free RV space. Must work well in a team environment outdoors and have excellent communication and customer service skills.
Armitage Campgroundis located in Lane County’s Eugene-Springfield metropolitan area. Armitage is an all season campground just a few miles south of historic Coburg on the McKenzie River. This 64-acre oasis boosts 38 campsites, with full hook-ups, tent and group sites, as well as a large day use area with rentable picnic shelters, and a boat launch. The campground features restrooms, showers and laundry facilities in the campground and one restroom facility in the day use area. Visitors enjoy swimming, fishing, hiking in addition to the two dog runs, one for small pups and the other for large dogs.
Lane County Parks is seeking individuals or couples to serve as Campground Hosts. Up to three (3) positions are available at Armitage Park & Campground year-round. Hosts are volunteers who live in the campground full-time and assist site Caretakers and Parks staff in the day to day operations of the campground. They are responsible for site management of campground, day use and marina, reservations and sales, providing a site presence and representing Lane County Parks.
- Hosts receive a RV site with full hook ups (water, electricity and sewer) in exchange for working 20 hours weekly,
- 5 days on and 2 consecutive days off, while providing 7-day a week night time presence.
Position duties:
- Greet visitors, answer questions and be readily accessible to the public.
- Understand and explain rules to park visitors to encourage voluntarily compliance.
- Represent Lane County Parks in a professional and appropriate manner at all times.
- Manage and assist with reservations.
- Sell approved point of sale items; firewood, ice, annual and day parking passes.
- Ensure site safety and perform daily inspections of campsites, gates, restrooms, showers and other facilities.
- Perform janitorial duties as assigned per frequency and schedule provided by Lane County Parks.
- Perform grounds maintenance as assigned per frequency and schedule provided by Lane County Parks.
- Contact park staff or law enforcement personnel when emergencies or activities within the park area that warrant them. Provide a site presence and notify Lane County of emergency situations.
Qualifications and required experience:
- 18+ only
- Own an RV, camper or van conversation
- Strong customer service experience
- Ability to operate duties as assigned.
- Maintain a tidy host site and a professional, approachable appearance.
- Proficient experience in cash handling preferred
- Proficient in email and basic computer skills preferred
- Experience with janitorial and grounds keeping is preferred.
- Long absence are not permitted.
- Once contracted, all Hosts must provide proof of personal auto insurance: $250/$500 bodily injury and property damage liability
- Pass criminal background check
This position requires applicants to live and volunteer in campgrounds and parks and provide their own accommodations in the form of an RV, camper, 5th wheel, van conversion. Lane County Parks provides full hook up (electricity, water, sewer and in some cases WiFi).
