JOB DESCRIPTOIN:
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is currently seeking volunteers to fill the South Tailwater Relief Custodian Volunteer position for the 2024 Spring/Summer recreation season at Lake Red Rock in Knoxville, Iowa. Join our awesome team of 60 workcampers and enjoy scenic views and quiet living at Iowa’s largest lake. A free, full-service campsite at Ivans Campground is provided in exchange for service averaging approximately 20-24 hours per week.
Custodial service is performed 4 days a week to provide relief to custodial staff in 3 recreation areas: South Tailwater, South Overlook, and Ivans Campground. Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays off.
The South Tailwater and South Overlook Recreation Areas include two adjacent day use areas with picnic shelters, fish cleaning stations, comfort stations, a playground, and a boat landing. Ivans Campground is a popular riverside campground with 21 campsites and one shower building. A half-mile paved trail connects the campground with the South Tailwater Recreation area.
A utility vehicle will be provided to perform work duties, and the volunteer will be reimbursed for any travel by personal vehicle as required to perform service. All training, equipment, supplies and uniforms will be provided.
Duties Include:
· Cleaning restroom buildings, picnic shelters, fish cleaning stations, vault toilets, playgrounds, and water fountains
· Servicing trash cans
· Removing litter from campground, roadways, parking lots and other public use areas
· Periodically cleaning standup grills and fire rings
· Periodically relocating picnic tables that have been moved
· Providing light landscape maintenance
· Performing light maintenance on nature trail
