JOB DESCRIPTOIN:
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is currently seeking volunteers to fill the Whitebreast East Custodial Volunteer position for the 2024 Spring/Summer recreation season at Lake Red Rock in Knoxville, Iowa. Join our awesome team of 60 workcampers and enjoy scenic views and quiet living at Iowa’s largest lake. A free, full-service campsite at Ivans Campground is provided in exchange for service averaging approximately 20-24 hours per week.
Whitebreast Recreation Area includes a campground with 130 sites, a beach, a youth camp, five shower buildings, four picnic shelters, six vault toilets, a dump station, and a fish cleaning station. Custodial service is performed 5 days a week, with Tuesdays and Wednesdays off. Custodial duties are shared by four volunteer positions.
A utility vehicle will be provided to perform work duties, and the volunteer will be reimbursed for any travel by personal vehicle as required to perform service. All training, equipment, supplies and uniforms will be provided.
Duties Include:
· Cleaning two shower buildings in the Meadows camping area
· Cleaning two vault toilets
· Servicing a fish cleaning station
· Cleaning the campground dump station located south of the campground entrance
· Removing litter and cleaning playground equipment
· Removing litter from roadways and unoccupied campsites and the boat landing area
· Cleaning water fountains in the Meadows camp loop and boat landing areas
· Cleaning fire rings within designated camp loops weekly
· Providing light landscape maintenance
