DEPT: Forest Service

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position is to fill a campground host for the Hobo Campground of The Kern River Ranger District of Sequoia National Forest.

Hobo is a small campground located off Old Kern Canyon Road along the Kern River.

Although this area can get very hot in the summer it is a popular destination because of the cool river. The mighty Kern River is one of the most challenging whitewater rafting and kayaking destinations in the west!

It is also a popular fishing destination because of it’s excellent trout and small mouth bass fishery. The Lower Kern Canyon is very also scenic and has numerous trails.

The applicant will need to be able to conduct a wide variety of work including but not limited to; outdoor yard work, being able to lift up to 25lbs, ability to move over rough terrain, public relations, written and verbal communication skills, and basic computer knowledge to pull reports from Recreation.gov.

This position would require the person (or a nice couple) to have their own travel trailer, motorhome, or RV. Trailer pad, propane, electric, and water are provided on site.

So if you’re looking for a change of scenery and chance to meet a wide variety of people then come spend the summer with the Kern River Ranger District!
