DATES: 4/30/2024 – 10/18/2024
DEPT: Fish & Wildlife Service
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Hi potential volunteers, thanks for taking some time to view our opportunity! Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge is in URGENT need of a volunteer duo or single. Our previous volunteer for this summer season fell ill unexpectedly and unfortunately had to pull out from the refuge only a month into their stay. Refuge staff are in desperate need of assistance, but especially during this time of year when everyone is busy with field work, school field trips, public events, meeting management objectives while also trying to keep up with everyday tasks such as mowing and litter pickup. If any of this sounds like something you would be interested in, join the team at Tennessee NWR. In exchange for 24 hours of service per week, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will provide a large covered RV pad, with full hookups, propane, laundry facilities and wifi. The Service will also provide volunteers with a work vehicle, equipment and any PPE needed while on the clock. Just a quick tidbit of information about TN NWR, it is a 51,000 acre conservation area made up of a wide variety of habitats that attract migratory birds following the Mississippi Flyway. The main focus of this refuge is to provide a stopover site that supplies food and sanctuary to wintering waterfowl during their migration seasons.
