DESCRIPTION:
Steck Park Camp Host (or couple) needed for early May to September for the Bureau of Land Management in SW Idaho.
Camp host needed for early May to mid-September, 2021. The Bureau of Land Management is seeking a camp host to manage Steck Park Campground on Brownlee Reservoir (Snake River) near Weiser, Idaho. Work is a minimum 30 hours per week, with most duties between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. and between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Schedule is generally Thursday-Mondays.
Visit www.blm.gov/visit/steck-park. Volunteers must be at least 21 years old, with no significant physical or mental condition that would prevent them from carrying out these duties. Volunteers must also pass a federal background check.
Volunteers will perform an assortment of public contact, maintenance, and administrative duties. Examples of these duties include answering visitor questions, explaining fee payment procedures, educating visitors about campground rules, picking up litter, cleaning restrooms, water landscaping, mow grass, and collecting basic visitor use data. Full service campsite provided for no charge (water, sewer, electric service).
Volunteers will live on site and provide their own lodging (i.e. RV or camp trailer). Camp-rate reimbursements will be provided, and other work related expenses will be reimbursed.
Brownlee Reservoir and Steck Park Campground are located on the Snake River approximately 20 miles west of Weiser, Idaho (home of the National Old Time Fiddlers Festival – third week in June). The reservoir offers some of the best catfish, crappie and bass fishing in the Pacific Northwest.

QUALIFICATIONS
Need to provide own RV. Cleaning restrooms, moving sprinklers and hoses can be moderately physical.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Brownlee Reservoir weather is often windy and temperatures are hot during the middle of the day from July-September. A riding lawn mower and golf cart are used by the host to assist with visitor contacts, cleaning and landscaping duties. Steck Park has 17 toilets, 50 campsites, and two boat docks spread out over about 20 acres.
