DESCRIPTION: Spend you Summer on the shores of Oregon’s Diamond Lake!
Nestled on the Eastern shore of Diamond Lake, Diamond Lake Campground offers over 230 campsites for visitors. Views of the lake, Mt. Bailey and Mt. Thielsen serve as the backdrop to a wide range of activities. Visitors can enjoy a walk or bike around the lake on the paved trail, fish for Rainbow trout, or grab lunch at Diamond Lake Resort! From Roseburg, OR, turn onto OR-138 east / NE Diamond Lake Boulevard, drive 80 miles east on Highway 138. Turn right onto Forest Road 4795/ Diamond Lake Loop at the north entrance to Diamond Lake Recreation Area. Proceed 2.5 miles to the campground entrance on the right.
From Klamath Falls, OR, or Bend, OR, follow US-97 to OR-138. Follow OR-138 west approximately 22 ½ miles to Forest Road 4795/Diamond Lake Loop. Turn left onto FR 4795 and proceed 2.5 miles to the campground entrance on the right.
Camp Host Duties include the following: welcome visitors, answer questions about the local area, remind visitors of campground rules such as keeping campsites clean and leashing pets, perform compliance checks, update reservation sheets, and communicate visitor conflicts to Forest Service (FS) staff. Other host duties involve helping with occasional campground needs such as picking up litter, cleaning picnic tables, grills and firepits, restocking toilet paper and fee envelopes, and communicating maintenance problems with FS staff. Restrooms are cleaned by a contractor. Volunteer must be able to bend, lift and walk comfortably. Ability to use tools such as rakes, brooms, pruners, and shovels is preferred but not required.
Must have the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with the public.
Hosts will be onsite and available for contact by the public at least 5 days a week, up to 8 hours per day. Actual shifts may vary and must coordinate with arrival of campers. Hosts will coordinate with FS Gatehouse personnel regarding signing campsites for reservations and other day to day tasks, including when the hosts are taking days off for personal use.
