DESCRIPTION:
John H. Kerr Dam and Reservoir is seeking a volunteer(s) to work in the Joseph S.J. Tanner Environmental Education Center when the center is open. Volunteer will assist with other duties like working in gatehouses and general visitor assistance as needed.
John H. Kerr Dam and Reservoir – US Army Corps of Engineers is seeking an interpretive programming volunteer for the Joseph S.J. Tanner Environmental Education Center (EEC). This position includes working weekends/holidays when the EEC is open. Successful interpretive program volunteers are energetic, professional, comfortable with public speaking, and team oriented. Volunteer will assist with other duties like working in gatehouses and general visitor assistance as needed. Volunteer will work 24 hours a week. Sunday, Friday, and Saturday are required days but they may be adjusted depending on scheduling needs and other volunteers. The duration of this position lasts until October 31st, 2021 and includes a full hookup site (electric, water, sewer) in North Bend Park on Kerr Lake. Individuals/partners welcome to apply.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Volunteer(s) will work inside of the Joseph S.J. Tanner Environmental Education Center when open. Volunteer(s) will assist with other duties like working in gatehouses as needed and may need to step outside of gatehouse to occasionally speak with a guest. This position does require that the volunteers keep the environmental education center building clean and in good shape. Appropriate protective equipment will be provided due to COVID-19.
