If you’re an RVer, you know and love the ‘Fiesta’.

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is one of the most popular annual events for RVers and it’s the largest gathering of balloons and balloonists in the world. This year they’re celebrating the event’s 50th anniversary, but according to their website, RV accommodations are already sold out for the October event. The waitlist closed with more than 5,000 people on it — but don’t give up just yet!

This year the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center (IPCC) is hosting its own dry camping lot in the heart of ABQ. (Fun fact: IPCC filled their RV Host positions here on Kamper Jobs!)

You can check out IPCC’s RoverPass page here and grab a site before they’re all gone! Regular dry RV sites start at $50/night, and all registrations will include: 24/7 security, onsite RV Park hosts, Evenings at Avanyu events (Oct. 3, 4, 5), and a welcome kit to the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center Campus. Also, please remember that admission to the Balloon Fiesta is not included in the pricing for your RV site, but you can purchase tickets separately at balloonfiesta.com

The week of the event, IPCC is also offering a full schedule of activities, including the Albuquerque American Indian Arts Festival; multiple Native dance performances daily; and artisans with authentic Native art and jewelry for sale in their mural-lined courtyard.  With so many great things to see and do, make sure you mark your calendar with these important dates:

  • Oct. 3-5 from 4-8PM: “Evenings at Avanyu” will include static displays of  IPCC’s hot air balloon, Eyahne On The Horizon, at Avanyu Plaza.  There will also be Native dance performances, art, storytelling and s’mores.
  • October 10: Celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day at IPCC.  The program will include guest speakers/dignitaries, Native dance performances, artists selling their beautiful, hand-crafted wares and authentic Indigenous food.

And if you’re dry camping for the big event,  we suggest you skip cooking in the RV! Instead, check out the acclaimed Indigenous restaurant, Indian Pueblo Kitchen, known for its Native American culinary artistry and celebrated Pueblo hospitality, and the terrific restaurants and dining options in Avanyu Plaza (located right across the street from IPCC). This includes 12th Street Tavern, the beautiful new neighborhood eatery owned and operated by Indian Pueblos Marketing Inc.

With most RV parks and campgrounds likely booked by now, this is an amazing opportunity to stay in ABQ for this beloved event.  So, what are you waiting for? Book your site, and get ready to make some memories!
