When searching for a work camping job, you’ll definitely need a resume to showcase your relevant skills and experience. So, then how should you build a work camping resume? Let’s take it from the top:
1) Decide if you want an online resume, or a traditional resume (e.g. PDF document)
First, consider how you want to apply for jobs. There are several websites, including Kamper Jobs, that offer online resume builders. However, if you already have documents (e.g. PDF resume and/or PDF cover letter), you may want to use the materials you already have. If you want to use your own materials, then check out this video about how to apply for jobs — it might help you decide how you want to manage your resume(s).
2) What kind of work are you looking for?
Think about how you can leverage your existing skills in a work camping setting. For example, are you good with people — or computers? Or maybe you’re great with maintenance or landscaping? Look back at what you do best and you’ll find that you have skills that can be very useful in a camping environment. When you’ve decided what type of jobs you’re looking for, make sure to include relevant skills and experience in your resume.
3) Draft an “Introduction”
Think of the ‘introduction’ as the elevator pitch that summarizes your story and gives the employer an idea of how you can add value to their team. Consider including details such as ‘what you like about work camping’, the type of locations and opportunities you’re looking for — and what you do best. Try to keep it short, but also relevant to any employer who reviews your resume.
4) Prepare your work history
If you’re new to work camping, that doesn’t mean you don’t have relevant work history! For example, if you have experience in a corporate or hospitality setting, those skills may translate to an office job at a campground. Retail and restaurant experience could be applicable to a camp store or restaurant environment, and hands-on skills in plumbing or construction would be useful when applying to maintenance positions. Chances are you already have skills that can translate to a campground setting (don’t forget the importance of a positive attitude and people skills!), so make sure to include that information in your resume.
5) Create your resume!
If you already have documents of your own, check out this video about how to apply for jobs. If you’re using the Kamper Jobs resume builder, keep reading! There is also a step-by-step video about how to create a work camper resume below. Here’s how it works:
- Create a new work camper resume
- Add important information, including:
- contact details (e.g. phone number)
- that introductory paragraph (i.e. why are you traveling? what do you do well?)
- work history (e.g. Work Camper at Awesome Campground 1/1/21 – 4/30/21)
- additional optional info (e.g. photo of your RV)
- Click Submit
That’s it! Now you can apply with your online resume to any job that takes applications via email (more about that here). The employer will receive an email with your personal message and a link to your resume — and you can track Applications from your Camper Dashboard.
Now, go find that awesome work camping gig — and good luck!
