JOB DESCRIPTION:
Location: Ocoee-Hiwassee Ranger District, Cherokee National Forest
The Ocoee-Hiwassee Ranger District is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic host couple to serve as campground hosts at Thunder Rock Campground, a scenic and well-loved destination nestled along the Ocoee River. Located just 1.8 miles northwest of the Ocoee Whitewater Center and behind TVA Powerhouse Number 3, this campground offers a unique opportunity to engage with outdoor enthusiasts in a vibrant recreational setting.
Campground Features:
- 37 non-electric campsites and 1 group site
- Accommodates tents, small campers, and pop-up trailers
- Flush toilets and warm showers available
- Water hydrants located throughout the campground
- No dump station on site
- Trailhead parking for the Tanasi Trail System (approx. 30 miles of hiking and biking trails)
- Access to the Benton-McKaye Trail
- Nearby Ocoee River put-ins and the historic Ocoee Whitewater Center (site of the 1996 Olympic Canoe/Kayak-Slalom Competition)
Host Site Amenities:
- One full hookup site (water, sewer, electric)
- One partial hookup site (water and electric)
- Volunteers must provide their own RV/camper and transportation
Directions: From the Ocoee Ranger Station, turn left onto Highway 64 and travel 10.9 miles to TVA Ocoee Powerhouse Number 3. Turn right, cross the bridge, and the campground will be on your right.
