JOB DESCRIPTION:

Offer assistance, provide information, be available for recreationists utilizing Little Walnut/Gomez Peak Picnic Facilities. Volunteer will be authorized to use Cushman golf cart to pick up trash and to perform maintenance only. Picking up trash and litter, opening and closing the main gates of Gomez Peak and Little Walnut Picnic areas at appropriated times, cleaning and stocking the restrooms, communication with the public regarding rules, regulations, area information, and trip orientation. All communication with the public will require a “Good Host” attitude and adhere to forest rules, regulations and policies.

Law enforcement duties are NOT performed by volunteer, volunteer will only get law enforcement information (vehicle license plate #, make, model, and personal appearance) and report violations.

Hours will be documented by volunteer and turned in monthly to a Forest service liaison. Other work assigned will be agreed upon by both parties. Trash bags and restroom supplies, and some personal protective equipment will be provided by the Forest Service; all items issued will be documented by FS liaison. Pets must be on a leash at all times within the developed recreation site. And any incidental expenses will be reimbursed.

A picnic area host campsite is available, providing sewer, water, and electrical hookups. Seeking long-term volunteer for duration of 6 months to one year commitment. The selected candidate and agency will agree on a work schedule agreeable to both parties.
