JOB DESCRIPTION:
Gravel, back-in RV spot available onsite, can accommodate most RV and trailer sizes. 50 amp RV or motor home utility hook-ups for electric, water, and sewage available. No propane. Hosts requires 32 hours a week per resident. Exact start and end dates negotiable. The park is located just outside of Macon, GA and has many amenities and attractions nearby. Please note that Ocmulgee Mounds does not have a campground, we offer a single RV pad on park grounds.
This position assists with opening, closing, and staffing the Ocmulgee Mounds NHP visitor center which contains over 2,000 artifacts from 12,000 years of human history. The museum contains many exhibits, a 17 minute film, and museum store. The park has 8 miles of trails, 7 Mississippian era mounds and a historic Earth Lodge.
As the resident host, you provide orientation, interpretation and answer visitor questions at the main information desk. You would also cover topics regarding the park, local natural and cultural resources, safety precautions, rules and regulations, recreational opportunities, and area services. You would also assist staff with operations and maintenance of facilities, including cleaning bathrooms, emptying trash containers, ensuring park is free of litter, basic trail maintenance and other more complex maintenance and visitor facility projects within your abilities.
Schedule is typically 4 days on and 3 days off. Day-to-day schedule varies. Couples will work the same days, but may not have the same daily schedule.
