JOB DESCRIPTION:
Magnolia Ridge is open year-round, offers 41 sites of which 39 have water and electric hookups. There are three boat ramps, four restrooms, 2-acre Kid’s Fishing Pond, and four trail systems extending 1.9 miles. All reservations are processed through Recreation.gov. Volunteers are not responsible for processing any transactions and are not allowed to make reservations and/or process payment on behalf of the customer. The boat ramps are available to both registered campers and day-use users.
Position Description: The Camp Host(s) will provide general information and customer service to registered campers and park customers by answering general questions about the campground, perform check-ins/outs of registered campers, issue camping tags, perform minor grounds keeping duties such as mowing campsites and recreation areas as needed, clearing campsites and roadways of debris (leaf litter/pine straw/sticks) as needed, minor restroom cleanings (as needed), working with their fellow volunteers at the park and performing other duties as assigned. Volunteers must be in good physical condition as much work can be labor intensive. Volunteers will also assist with the Water Safety Program, informing visitors about Water Safety, maintaining life-jacket loaner boards (where available) and working with both the Volunteer Program and Water Safety Program Coordinators to perform and record water safety contacts.
Background Checks: All volunteers and anyone, physically living with the volunteer (18 years of age and older) must submit to a Background Check. Only individuals who can pass the Background Check will be accepted as Campground Host volunteers and/or allowed to live onsite within the campground.
Host Site and Schedule: Campground Host volunteers will provide 20 service hours a week (80 service hours a month) per individual in exchange for their campsite. Additionally, no more than 3 pets are allowed per camp host site. Camp host site is a 20’x50’ covered concrete pad with full hookup and 50 Amp breaker. It is encouraged that Campground Host Volunteers at a park work together to create their own schedule. Volunteer service days are rendered seven days a week and on Holidays.
