Job Description

Finley Flats Campground is located approximately 12 miles northwest of Thompson Falls, MT and is the largest campground on Avista’s Clark Fork Project. This popular campground is ideal for families, RVs, trailers and boats. The campground is located adjacent to U.S. Forest Service land and campers can enjoy swimming, fishing, canoeing/kayaking, and hiking. Cell service is extremely limited in the campground. Nearest reliable cell service is located 1.5 miles away near Highway 200 and the River Roadhouse restaurant. Internet and landline phone services are not available in the campground.

Host agrees to serve as a front-line customer service representative for Finley Flats Campground. Host camps among other campers in order to provide a personal touch and to assist with the needs of the campers. Host must become familiar with local points of interest, such as Noxon Reservoir and Cabinet Gorge Reservoir. Plus, all other recreational opportunities in the area and be knowledgeable of the location of services that may be requested by campers, such as grocery facilities and gas stations.

Host shall assist campers by providing information about the campground, answer questions, and enforce campground rules. Host will also perform maintenance duties, grounds-keeping tasks, and janitorial services around campground facilities, as well as make minor repairs, depending on the experience of the person. Other duties may be assigned according to the needs of the campground and the skills of the volunteer.

Hosts are expected to enforce the rules of the campground, such as: camping night limits, quiet hours, speed limits, dogs on leash and other posted rules. If host does not feel comfortable enforcing such a rule, they should document all the information they can on the incident, contact local law enforcement and notify the Avista Recreation and Land Use Specialist. If a host does enforce a rule, they are expected to do it in a courteous and respectful manner. Hosts must set an example by being a model camper and practicing good housekeeping at all times and observe all campground rules.

A designated host campsite is provided for no charge and will include septic hookup. Water and electricity are not available. There is a designated host campsite, and it cannot be changed.

The host will be compensated for travel to and from the site in the beginning of their term and at the end of the term.
