Volunteer Campground Host
Seasonal, volunteer
Unpaid except for $30/ daily stipend, plus free propane
The volunteer Campground Host is an unpaid volunteer position that assists Teton County and the Idaho Fish & Game Department by monitoring the Rainey Bridge access site, located on the Teton River near Driggs and Tetonia, Idaho. The goal of this volunteer position is to maintain an official presence at the campground, track overnight stays and notify Idaho Fish & Game law enforcement officers if campers exceed the 10-day stay limit. All enforcement will be carried out by Idaho Fish & Game officers.
Essential Job Functions
· Maintain record of overnight campers at sight.
· Report code violations
· Maintain relationships with Idaho Fish & Game and Teton County Sheriff’s Department
· Educate campers on County Code regarding campsite use and river access.
Requirements
· Must own self-contained recreational camping vehicle
· Must possess valid Driver’s License
· Ability to communicate with the public in a professional manner
· Must be 21 year of age
Location: Rainey access site on the Teton River (aka “The Big Eddy”)
Duration: June 2 to September 5, 2023
Supervisor: This position reports directly to GIS Manager & Community Projects Coordinator.
Compensation: Propane supplied for the season, along with a $30/day stipend. Adjacent vault toilet may be used for sewage dumping. IDF&G can supply supplementary solar panels.
