DESCRIPTION:
Montezuma Well is a subunit of Montezuma Castle National Monument. We are seeking a self-motivated individual or couple to assist with visitor services 3-4 days a week in exchange for free housing! For you RVers out there, this includes free propane, water, and electricity! For those without RVs, tiny homes with 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom, full kitchen and living room are available as well!
The park is located in central Arizona and has a picnic area, a 1.5 mile trail (which includes around 200 stairs at various locations on the trail) and a Visitor Contact station with AC/Heating, water, fridge, and microwave! Winter highs average around 50 degrees and overnight lows can get below freezing. Late spring temperatures can average in the 80s or 90s. Individual must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, contacting hundreds of visitors a day and sharing their love and enthusiasm for the park and south-west.

Before applicants are selected and given a start date for the position, they can expect:
A short phone interview with park ranger
References to be checked
DUTIES
Opening and closing the park daily
Staffing Contact Station and Greeting Visitors
Roving the trail, contacting visitors, providing information on the park and local area.
Swearing in Junior Ranger and BARK Rangers!
Light janitorial duty in the form of picking up trash along the trail, tidying workstations and sweeping floors – but NO bathroom cleaning duties
Using Handheld Radio and Answering Phones
Hours 7:45am-5:15pm (three consecutive days a week for couples or four consecutive days a week for individuals).

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Contact Station:
A contact station is available to greet visitors and provide visitor services. Drinking water, AC and heat are provided. Interpretation, Junior Ranger supplies and passport stamps are available for the public. There is no computer access.
Trail:
There are several areas on the trail staff can station themselves at to be available for questions. Staff can also remain mobile by walking the trail throughout the day. Areas of particular interest should be staffed as much as possible to prevent visitors from going off trail and protecting resources. Note, this position is not law enforcement, it is meant to be preventative.
Housing:
Crushed granite RV pad includes fresh water, sewage, propane, electricity. Limited cell reception, WIFI and laundry not provided. Rural environment with lots of wildlife. Neighborhood consists of 2 RV pads, 2 one-bedroom manufactured homes, and 2 three bedroom homes with various levels of occupancy throughout the year. Convenience groceries and gas are available within a 10 minute drive, big box groceries are about 30+ minutes away. Great central access to a variety of outdoor recreation activities, wineries, and cultural museums. Spend your “weekends” traveling and visiting other National Parks across the southwest.
