ADDRESS: Big Cypress National Preserve
33100 Tamiami Trail East
Ochopee, Florida 34141
DEPT: National Park Service
DESCRIPTION:
Visitors from all over the world travel to Big Cypress National Preserve to see if they can catch a glimpse of an endangered Florida Panther, spot a flock of roseate spoonbills, watch alligators in the wild. They walk along our boardwalks, viewing animals unlike they’ve ever seen before and immerse themselves in the wonder of cypress domes. They come to canoe the water ways, hike in the back country, take an off-road vehicle ride, seek stunning vistas, and stop at the visitor centers to learn more about the cycles of water and fire balance the swamp, pinelands, prairies, and cypress domes across the Preserve’s 729,000 acres.
As a Preserve Caretaker, you will be stationed at one of our campgrounds or visitor’s centers within the Preserve. You will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the Preserve, by mowing, picking up trash, keeping our bathrooms in order, and other minor maintenance duties! Schedules are flexible, but a 32 hour/week commitment is required in order to be assigned to an RV site.
