Maintenance & Custodial Volunteer

The primary duty of the Campground Maintenance & Custodial Volunteer is to perform light custodial duties within the West Overlook Day Use Area along with light campground maintenance. The volunteer and/or spouse shall provide an average of 21 hours of volunteer service per week and will serve for the entire recreation season May through October. Two different volunteer positions will share a rotating work schedule of 4 days on and 4 days off. Example schedules are available from the project POC.

Volunteers selected for this position are provided a campsite in the Linder Point Campground with water, 50 amp electric, and sewer hookups.

Area Mileage/Week: A shared golf cart is located at each campground for use conducting campground rounds.

Specific Duties Include:

–       Conduct custodial duties at the West Overlook Day Use Area on scheduled days. Custodial duties include opening gate at WODU at 0600, cleaning of (3) vault restrooms, emptying trash cans and replacing with a new liner, cleaning the large group shelter and three small shelters, cleaning pedestal grills, cleaning picnic tables, cleaning playground, picking up litter in all areas to include beach, parking lot, mowed areas and non-mowed areas.

–       Replace campsite carsonite posts as needed.

–       Landscaping and weeding flower beds located in the Dam Complex.

–       Painting projects.

–       Emptying recycling containers at the Dam Complex dump station, Tailwater West Campground, and Tailwater East Campground on Friday and Mondays.

Other tasks as assigned by the volunteer coordinator.
