RV INFORMATION: Trailer/RV PadsDescription: 3 RV sites offer electricity, sewage and water at site. Water is non-potable from well and used for showering and RV needs. Drinking and cooking water obtained from sources off-site.Sites do not have cement pads; site area is grass covered.Laundry building has washer/dryer, utility sink and table.Sites are located in proximity to the maintenance shop and Garris Landing boat ramp and pier.

Volunteer Activities• Construction/Maintenance • Computers • Conservation Education • Office/Clerical • Other • Trail/Campground Maintenance • Visitor Information • General Assistance • Weed/Invasive Species Control DescriptionCape Romain National Wildlife Refuge, with headquarters located 20 miles north of Charleston, encompasses over 66,000 acres which include barrier islands, salt marshes, and maritime forest. Management objectives include managing habitat for migratory birds, managing threatened and endangered species, preserving maritime forest communities and, offering wildlife-dependent recreation . Duties with this position include visitor services and maintenance.  Visitor Services – Welcome visitors at the Sewee Visitor & Environmental Education Center, provide information and an orientation to the Refuge and Francis Marion National Forest, work in the nature store, assist staff in the preparation of recreation and educational materials and, assist at on-site and off-site events. Assist staff in care of pollinator gardens and facillity grounds. Maintenance – Assist in the maintenance of grounds, facilities, vehicles and equipment. Assist with construction projects. Carpentry and mechanical skills a plus as is the ability to use hand tools, trimmers, push and riding mowers. Must be able to lift 30 lbs. The Refuge will provide uniform items and training. Minimum requirements to become a Resident Volunteer: provide self-contained recreational vehicle; volunteer for a minimum of 3 months; be willing to contribute 28 hours per week per individual.
