The Cottage Grove Ranger District is seeking volunteers to serve as Campground Host(s) at Rujada Campground on Layng Creek and Cedar Creek Campground along Brice Creek for the 2020 summer season. Your presence as a Host will help reduce vandalism and litter as well as improve the recreation experience of forest visitors. Our mission for a Host is to provide customer service to forest visitors by greeting visitors, posting reservations, providing forest information, and assisting with light maintenance of facilities and trash cleanup. A $60.00 per week stipend is paid to hosts to offset costs for personal supplies.   The campgrounds are approximately 25 miles east of Cottage Grove, Oregon. The Rujada Camp host site has electrical and potable water hookups, phone, and gray water receptacle but no black water. The nearest sewage dump is about 6 miles away. Rujada Campground has 11 camp units and an adjacent day use picnic area. Cedar Creek Campground has 8 camp units a vault toilet, no water and is adjacent to the Brice Creek trailhead. Both campgrounds are under a cleaning contract for the restrooms and fire rings. Typical campground amenities at both campgrounds include: campsites with tent pads and a parking spur, table and fire ring.  Wastewater receptacles, vault or flush toilets, and garbage service. Primary recreation activities include hiking, fishing, unsupervised swimming in the clear, cool pools of Layng and Brice Creeks. Volunteer hosts are typically asked to commit for the summer season (Memorial Weekend through Labor Day) however shorter or longer stays are negotiable depending on the specific needs of the site and the host(s).  Working days and hours are flexible as well, however it is preferred that the host(s) be available during periods of high use (weekends and holidays).
