Lodging would include a private furnished bedroom, a shared bathroom and kitchen, a laundry facility, and wifi.

AMNWR is managed by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. RV Pad with electric, water, propane, and wifi -or- a free room in the shared bunkhouse. An annual America the Beautiful pass for all federal lands after 250 volunteer hours. Multi-day environmental interpretation and education training. Monthly volunteer enrichment events such as a VIP tour of our fish facility Work outside in warm, sunny weather with views of wild vistas, wildflowers, and wildlife. Live within 2-hours of Death Valley National Park, Red Rocks National Recreation Area, Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, and the Vegas strip.   Inspire Visitors to Conserve Endangered Species The Education and Outreach Assistant dedicated inspire children and adults to fall in love with Ash Meadows through biodiversity, water conservation, and desert ecology on- and off-site educational programming. The volunteer will dedicate 24-hours a week to a variety of educational programming, visitor services, administrative tasks, and special projects.* Education & Outreach (30-60%) Co-facilitating 2-hour educational programs for elementary school field trips. Leading 40-minute interpretive walks of desert and wetland habitats for the general public and private groups. Rove boardwalks and provide informal interpretation of wildlife, wildflowers, and earthcare. Assisting with outreach at community events by serving as a positive representative of the FWS. Traveling to other wildlife refuges in the area to assist with their educational programming. Assisting with the setup, cleanup, organization, and maintenance of educational gear. Visitor Services (30-60%) Cultivate a friendly, inclusive visitor-centered experience for local and international visitors. Provide visitors with accurate, up-to-date information about refuge wildlife, services, and regulations. Respond to phone calls and report issues to the appropriate wildlife staff. Operate cash register, make sales, collect moneys, and write end of shift reports. Open, close and operate audio visual exhibits in visitor center. Maintain a clean and tidy workspace, visitor center, and bathrooms through a weekly routine. Administration (5%) Enter visitor center and wildlife sightings data into an excel spreadsheet Optional Special Projects (5%) Create visual and written content for social media Proposing and drafting interpretive displays and promotional materials Assist with small restoration projects Assist with lite maintenance projects * Based on present circumstances, we anticipate the volunteer will perform the following duties.
